Born to Breathe

from Dance on Evidence by Simon Shack and friends

/

about

The title says it all: Born to Breathe. The rhythmic, blowing sound at the start is again the great Marco Orfei - this time using a Sicilian "scacciapensieri" (or "mouth harp"). In this track, Marco also plays an ancient Colombian clarinet, his transverse flute, his trombone and saxophone (as well as the doublebass!). The didjeridoo is played by Ivano - seen at the lefthand side of the album cover. The "dramatic" viola is by Jeannette Gilfedder - a wondrous Australian violinist, while the drums/ rhythm section (and assorted extra sounds) are by Simon Shack - mostly using a Roland Octapad with various sampled 'ethnic' percussion sounds. Needless to say, we were all breathless at the end of this recording...
