about

This is a recently remastered version of our band's first ever, "historical" album (so to speak) which was released on the CNI/Tomato label in 2005. That's right, back then we were (briefly) a 'signed' band. This didn't last for long as the label soon folded down - yet we were delighted (and somewhat astonished) to read the incredibly encouraging "rave reviews" by the Italian Music Press which welcomed the album's release (to be sure, we certainly had no manager or promoter - so those reviews were quite spontaneous). We were then contacted by EMI - one of this world's largest record labels - who expressed clear interest in publishing our album. For some reason, this never materialized.

We went on performing the songs of this album live in a number of small venues around Italy - a period which the five members of the band will always fondly remember. A while later, I started putting together my September Clues research documentary - and used many of this album's instrumental tracks for the movie's soundtrack. Since the movie (now translated in 12 languages) has had, since then, several million views on Livevideo, Youtube and other video portals, I presume many people will be familiar with the sounds and grooves of this debut album of The Social Service - and hope they will now enjoy discovering the "full" versions (with vocals) of these songs.

Anecdotally, I would add that our record label never sent us a single penny from the sales of the album, the original CD stock of which apparently sold out. In any case, the CD of the album is now almost impossible to find over the internets - although, a few years ago, I saw that someone was selling his/her copy for a very, very steep price! So please enjoy this "rare" album - and feel free to purchase this recently remastered version of it (by downloading it from Bandcamp you'll get HD audio quality of the same).

5 RECENSIONI DELLA STAMPA MUSICALE ITALIANA:
__________________________________________________

"Salvare i porci".
